"Explorer" was announced in 1953 in honor of the feat of the world's first Everest climb. It was developed as a professional watch for adventurers based on the Oyster watch worn by the British Himalayan expedition team that made the first ascent at that time.
"214270" announced in 2010 changed the case size from the conventional 36mm to 39mm. Since 2016, the white inlay has been abolished from the 3, 6, and 9 indexes, and the Chromalight luminescence, which emits blue light for a long time even in the dark, has been installed, further improving visibility. The movement is equipped with Rolex's proprietary "Cal.3132".
In 1971, the "Explorer II" was introduced, equipped with a 24-hour counter to distinguish between day and night even in harsh environments. It is a distinctive model and is still the most popular first model.
The current model is "216570". Introduced in 2011, it is a popular model that revived the orange hands that are the symbol of the first Explorer II and has attracted not only fans of the past but also general users.
The movement is equipped with "Cal.3187", which boasts a power reserve of 48 hours.
