Involvement in yacht racing
Rolex formed a partnership with the world-renowned New York Yacht Club in 1958 and continues to be the main sponsor of the New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta.
Rolex also has a deep connection with many other yacht races, such as the Sydney-Hobart Race in Australia and the Rolex TP52 World Championship, which is held in a different location each year, and you can see Rolex watches and clocks there.
Francis Chichester
A former Royal Air Force pilot, he was the first person to circumnavigate the globe solo, completing the gruelling route from Europe to Africa, across the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean in 226 days in 1966, at the age of 66.
He completed the journey wearing an Oyster Perpetual, and when he returned to England on the same day he finished, he sent a telegram to Rolex stating that he had been wearing an Oyster Perpetual throughout the voyage.
