YACHT MASTER product history and chronology explained

We would like to explain the history and chronology of YACHT MASTER products. We will explain the products in an easy-to-understand manner even for first-time users.

Delivery to some areas may be delayed due to typhoons.Please understand beforehand.

1992 The first solid gold Yachtmaster is now available in a men's model (Ref. 16623), a boys' model (Ref. 68623), and a ladies' model (Ref. 69623).
1997 A combination model of stainless steel and yellow gold Rolesor is now available.
1999 The Rolesium model, a combination of stainless steel and platinum, was released and quickly became popular.
2004 A combination model lineup has been added to the men's model lineup.
2007 Two models of the Yacht-Master II (Ref. 116689, 116688) were released, attracting a great deal of attention due to their inclusion of a chronograph.
2011 A combination model of rose gold and stainless steel is now available.
2012 The Rolesium undergoes a minor change. The Ref. 116622 is released.
2014 Production of the ladies' model has ended.
2015 The Ref. 16655, the first to feature the rubber strap "Oysterflex," and the 37mm boys' version, the Ref. 268655, are now available.
2016 A rose gold and stainless steel combination model (Ref. 116621) is now available.
2019 The Ref. 126622 has been released with a 40mm case and a new movement, with a power reserve that has been improved to 70 hours.
2019 A 42mm case white gold model (Ref. 226659) is now available.

The Yachtmaster was released for the wealthy who enjoy beach resorts. Initially, the lineup was limited to solid yellow gold, but it was the first sports model to be designed for couples, and was made available in three sizes for men, boys, and women. For the 20 years since its release, the model has not changed significantly, and models from 2007 onwards have had the letters ROLEX engraved on the dial (roulette engraving).

Rolex's seriousness about bracelets can be seen in the invention of the Easylink, which allows the buckle to be extended by 5 mm. The movement is the same Cal. 3135 as the previous model, but it uses the blue Parachrom balance spring, which provides far greater shock resistance than previous models.

This model was announced at Baselworld in 2019. Compared to the previous model, Ref. 116622, there are almost no changes to the design, and the luminous paint is also the same. However, it is equipped with the high-spec movement Cal. 3135, which extends the power reserve from 48 hours to 70 hours and is highly shock resistant.

In 2007, the Yacht-Master II was released, specializing in yacht racing. Unlike the Yacht-Master, which is for enjoying an elegant beach resort, the Yacht-Master II is a model for full-scale marine sports, and is a higher-end model of the Yacht-Master. It is equipped with a regatta chronograph, a complex mechanism that counts down from 10 minutes to 1 minute, which is a world first, and the patented Ring Command bezel realizes simple operability by linking the bezel with the movement. The first Yacht-Master II was made only from solid gold, and was available in yellow gold (Ref. 116688) and white gold (Ref. 116689).

In 2011, a combination model with 18K pink gold was released, the first time for a Rolex sports model. The match of pink gold and a blue bezel is rare even in Rolex history, and has many die-hard fans. The pink gold is named Everose Gold as a unique material, and as the name suggests, a small amount of platinum is mixed in to prevent discoloration due to aging. The world's first regatta chronograph movement was developed over approximately four years of labor based on Daytona's in-house chronograph movement Cal. 4130. It is a fully-fledged professional marine model unlike any other.

In 2013, the Yacht-Master, which had been mainly manufactured using K18 and platinum materials, released an all-stainless steel model that fans had been waiting for, making the marine flagship a more realistic model. The bezel is made of ceramic material, which is highly durable and does not fade easily, and combines practicality with a beautiful appearance. The countdown mechanism of the Cal.4161 movement has been improved compared to the previous movement Cal.4160, making it easier to maintain and more stable for the flyback. In addition, the hairspring uses blue parachrom, which boasts high magnetic resistance and durability, and is 10 times more resistant than conventional hairsprings. In addition, the hour hand of the Yacht-Master II has generally been replaced with a Benz hand in models from 2017 onwards.
