[Trivia] Trivia about OMEGA products
Origin of the brand name
The name "Omega (Ω)" comes from the last letter of the Greek alphabet, and was coined to represent the "ultimate" meaning of the 19-line caliber, a high-quality new movement announced in 1894. The company name was later changed to "Omega" in 1903.
High durability recognized by NASA
It is the only watch in the industry to use a system called "Co-Axial Escapement" that reduces friction within the movement and significantly extends the life of the components. Omega's "Speedmaster Professional" is also used as the official equipment of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Official Olympic Timekeeper
Omega has been the official timekeeper for 28 Olympic Games since the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, and will also be the official timekeeper for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Also featured in the popular spy movie "007" series
The Seamaster first appeared in the film in 1995, and has been worn by the main character, James Bond, in every film since.
