[Trivia] Trivia about Cartier products
Jeweler of Kings, King of Jewelers
The factory flourished and was favored by aristocrats and royalty. Edward VII praised the company for its prosperity, calling it "Jeweler of kings, king of jewelers." Cartier's international appeal captivated the world, solidifying its reputation.
New trend "Art Deco"
The "Art Nouveau style" was popular in the early 1900s. The Tank, released in 1914, was modern and different from previous Art Nouveau styles. It eventually replaced Art Nouveau as the trend, and Louis Cartier became a pioneer of Art Deco.
The world's first men's wristwatch
Cartier created a prototype in 1904 at the request of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. His request was for a watch that would allow him to easily tell the time even while flying, at a time when pocket watches were the norm. Cartier responded to this request with the Santos.
Panthère
The panther (leopard) is Cartier's signature animal. The elegant yet intimidating panther motif represents the strength and individuality of the wearer. Since its introduction in 1914, the panther motif has been used in a variety of jewelry pieces.
