It first appeared in 1960 as the Seamaster De Ville, part of the Seamaster series. De Ville means city or town in French, and it was a unique model among the Seamasters, featuring a slim, simple design. Seven years after its launch, it became completely independent from the Seamaster. Since then, it has been developed as its own series, the De Ville. While maintaining its elegant atmosphere, a wide variety of dial designs have been produced, from simple to unique.
