The first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, was born in 1983. The iconic square design remains the same, but the GMW-B5000 series is now made full metal and equipped with advanced functions such as smartphone link.
The shock-resistant structure of the watch, which sandwiches a fine resin buffer between the hard stainless steel metal bezel and the main case, makes it possible to create a full metal case. The size is also maintained thanks to high-density mounting technology. The back cover is a heavy screw-back case with a DLC coating that is highly resistant to wear. The metal band pieces are dimpled, inheriting the resin band design of the original model. Visibility is also improved by using a film solar cell and STN-LCD (liquid crystal display).
In terms of functionality, it is equipped with Bluetooth® communication function, and can obtain accurate time information by linking with a dedicated app. In addition, it is equipped with practical features such as a time correction system using standard radio waves (Multiband 6), stable operation with Tough Solar, high-brightness full auto LED backlight, world time, and day of the week display in six languages.
This G-SHOCK retains its roots but is now made entirely of metal, making it even more sophisticated.
