[Glossary] Hublot product brand terminology
Unico
Hublot's in-house chronograph movement, the Unico, meaning "unique" in Spanish, is a culmination of Hublot's dedication to its craftsmanship, having been developed over more than four years. This integrated flyback chronograph with a column wheel mechanism boasts a 70-hour power reserve thanks to its bidirectional automatic winding, and its push-button operation is smoother than ever before. Starting with the King Power Unico, followed by the Big Bang Unico in 2013, the lineup now includes a diverse range of models, including the all-black Black Magic and the King Gold Ceramic, which utilizes special materials.
Magic Gold
While Rolex's Everose gold and Omega's Sedna gold prevent fading by incorporating platinum or palladium, Omega's Magic Gold achieves unparalleled hardness by adding ceramic and a small amount of aluminum. While regular 18K gold has a Vickers hardness of around 400, Magic Gold boasts a Vickers hardness of 1000. By processing a special boron carbide ceramic, also used in the aerospace industry, Hublot's unique 18K gold, with excellent scratch resistance, is created.
